ABMA Building Management Training

The ABMA Building Compliance Accreditation Agency Limited is a not-for-profit platform for self-regulation of the maintenance and care of common property across Australia’s residential and mixed-use strata sector.

On this basis, the ABMA accredits training programs and trainers that satisfy the ABMA Industry Practitioner Accreditation Qualifications Framework. Such courses are then provided by other Training Organisations or ABMA Accredited Trainers. All training schedules outlined here on the ABMA website are facilitated by ABMA Accredited Trainers.

These training programs cater to the wide range of industry roles and improve knowledge in specific areas of building compliance. While the ABMA does also offer some short courses through ABMA Accredited Trainers, most longer courses are provided by other trusted organisations or individuals within the industry.

ABMA002 Strata/Trade Professionals Annual Induction (SPAI/TPAI)  

Cost: $330.00

Duration: 3 hours

Description:

This course provides an annual induction to both strata and trade professionals on the current standards, legislation and compliance requirements for the maintenance of common property and aims to fast-track capability and provide an audit trail of evidence of a positive safety culture within your organisation.

  • Introduction to the ABMA Building Management Code© and its practical use
  • General Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) induction

Description:

This course provides participants information on capital works in residential strata schemes and the preparation needed for a capital upgrade event. This includes discussing how to run a feasibility study, how to assess whether building approvals are required for your project and knowledge on building works certification and warranties.

This course introduces participants to an overview of an effective Facilities Management Plan (FMP). This includes discussing “As Constructed” documentation, Baseline Data for a building, and the importance of a site-specific, comprehensive FMP to ensure full compliance under complex legislative requirements.

CPD008 ABMA Code Utilisation Code of Conduct for Caretakers

Description:

This course assists participants in how to apply objective industry standards and professional standards of behaviour to Caretaking services delivery on common property. This includes discussing allowable tolerances for performance-based auditing and principled evidence gathering for performance management purposes, including management of unhelpful workplace behaviours.

This course is designed for caretaking service providers and can be completed alone or as a part of the ABMA New Entrants Program.

CPD012 Introduction to the WHS Compliance Management Plan

Description:
This course assists participants to better understand their duties as a person conducting a business or undertaking on the common property of a residential strata property. If you coordinate or arrange works on the common property then you may be acting as the Health & Safety Representative for the common property workplace and you need a comprehensive WHS Plan for this role. This course will help you understand your responsibilities and how to create an audit trail of vigilance to demonstrate a positive safety culture

BMT001 Certificate of Building Management  

Cost: $660.00

Duration: 3 hours

Description:

This course is an entry-level training program designed for Caretaking service providers and Facilities Managers seeking to understand the objective industry standards and regulatory compliance duties relating to their role. This includes development of site-specific Facilities Management Plans (FMP).

This course can be completed alone, as a part of the ABMA New Entrants Program or as the first step on the journey for the Diploma of Building Management and acquiring Full Building Manager Accreditation with the ABMA.

JRWOHS OHS/WHS Plan Consultant/Representative  

Cost: $1980.00

Duration: 3 days

Description:

This course has been developed to build capability in those individuals that seek to become a “competent person” for the purposes of functioning as a Health & Safety Representative in a residential or mixed-use strata complex. Participation will assist participants in building skills and understanding of the relevant requirements to successfully develop and implement an OHS/WHS Compliance Management Plan for the common property workplace. This 3-day hands-on training workshop will ensure participants are able to deliver their duties as a PCBU and Health & Safety Representative for their property, or as an OHS/WHS Compliance Management Plan Consultant if they choose to develop a career in this direction.

Course Overview:

  • Introduction to state-specific OHS/WHS legislation and application in a strata workplace
  • Template and training provided for developing a OHS/WHS Compliance Management Plan
  • Training in delivering the induction training of another PCBU, including site inspection

JRWFMPC Facilities Management Plan Consultant  

Cost: $1980.00

Duration: 3 days

Description:

This course has been developed to build specialist capability in industry practitioners planning to deliver consulting services in this area. Participation will equip individuals with an ABMA Facilities Management Plan template and training in how to develop and implement at site-specific FMP for a strata complex. This 3-day hands-on training workshop is fast paced and would suit experienced individuals seeking to develop their career in this direction.

  • Introduction to the FMP, how it’s constructed and implemented
  • Template and training provided for developing a FMP
  • Training in implementing the FMP, including induction training for the building manager client
